Research Assistant / Software Developer - Ireland


Minimum Qualification Required: BSc or equivalent + 2 years experience in s/w development or communication technology research.

Required Skills: Java, XML, networking protocols and technologies. A good knowledge of security in communication technologies and/or data storage and access.

Major Duties:
The role will encompass a range of activities related to communication technology security research and software development in an exciting multi-disciplinary European research project in the area of data handling compliance. The successful applicant will be dynamic, capable of working on own initiative as well as in a team environment. The role will include travel to European destinations. The successful candidate will join a team of professional researchers working on a range of projects in IT security research. The team spans basic research through applied research to product commercialization.

Preferred:
A proven track record in research.  UML modeling skills. A knowledge of rules-based systems.  Experience with agile development methodologies(e.g. SCRUM) an advantage. Knowledge of SQL and Java database development.
