Field Support Engineer


This position is open to an energetic self-starter who requires no supervision. After an extensive training period in Verity’s Carrollton, Texas headquarters, you will be based in Japan, supporting customers there, in Korea, Taiwan, and China. Periodic travel to Verity’s headquarters will be required.
             
RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support Verity’s Asian customers with software / hardware setup, integration, troubleshooting, and semiconductor process development
• Provide reports of status to Verity and Verity representation
• Provide field training of software functions to customers and support staff
• Keep metrics of all customers’ installation versions and any associated issues
• Gather requirements for new products
• Make presentations to Verity distributors and customers

Desired Skills & Experience

EDUCATION

• BS in Math, Chemistry, Physics, EE, or CS   
• Course work must include Software Design concepts

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Knowledge of communication protocols for RS232, Ethernet (TCP/IP) and DI/O
• Expert knowledge of MS Windows OS fundamentals, including system registry structure and use, HW Driver assignment and update system log file examination and extraction
• Firm understanding of electronics and electronic hardware functions
• Desire to produce clear, concise, and detailed problem definitions, status reports and solutions using a combination of graphics and articulate written English
• Good understanding of spoken Japanese, ability to speak conversational Japanese, and to read / write basic Japanese
• Experienced problem solving
• Working knowledge of semiconductor processes
• Proficiency using MS Word, Power Point, and Excel
• Good interpersonal skills to interact with Customers, Engineering, Scientific, and Quality Staff
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills

• WireShark or similar Ethernet packet debugger
• RS232 packet debugger
• Electronic test equipment
• Plasma physics

Verity Instruments is a manufacturer of optical emission instruments and software applications for endpoint detection, and advanced process control, and film thickness measurement.


Verity's optical emission-based instruments include spectrographs, monochromators and interference filter-based detectors. These products are used for endpoint determination in etch, ion beam etch, CVD etchback, photoresist strip, chemical/mechanical polishing (CMP) and other processes. Verity instrumentation also provides for plasma diagnostics, process development, process control and film thickness measurement.
